Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn at a press conference in Kyiv, said that currently, Ukrainian storages contain enough gas reserves. At the same time, Ukraine counts on reducing the price of gas imported from Russia in the first quarter of 2016, – the Joinfo.ua with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.
“At the moment the consumption is much lower than we expected. The storages have enough gas to use it without purchasing (in Russia – IF). There are several reasons why we should not buy more gas today. We expect that in the first quarter 2016 the price will be a little lower, while stocks rather all feel comfortable. Therefore, there is no critical need to do any pre-payments “, – said Demchyshyn.
“In any case … we buy an average of 30 million cubic meters a day, “- the minister added.
As of November 21, stocks of natural gas in Ukrainian underground storage facilities amounted to 16.6 billion cubic meters, which is 11.1% more than in the same period of 2014 (14.9 billion cubic meters).
It should be recalled that earlier Volodymyr Demchishin said that Ukrainian Naftogaz plans to abandon Russian natural gas in 2016. This will be achieved through reducing the consumption in the country and the increasing import from the European suppliers.
