Ukraine increases production and exports of sunflower oil

European Union countries are among the main consumers of Ukrainian sunflower oil

Ukraine increased production of sunflower oil by 4.7% in the last 2 quarters from September 2015. For this period export increased by 9.1%, Joinfo.ua reports.

The main consumer countries of Ukrainian sunflower oil were India (34%), China (14%) and the EU (27%).

At the same time export to Europe rose almost four times compared to last year.

“No matter how much oil we produce, we export it without problems. In 2015/2016 season sunflower harvest will be about 11 mln tons. It will result in 4.6-4.7 mln tons of oil, taking into account carryover. Ukraine consumes 400-450 thousand tons, respectively, we can export 4.25 mln tons “, – said an expert on oilseed market of UkrAgroConsult company Julia Garkavenko.

According to the report, this year Ukraine can exceed the record exports of 2013/2014 with 4.163 mln tons.
