“The memorandum with Ukrzaliznytsia provides for enhanced cooperation in the fields of development and modernization of the diesel locomotives fleet, using the American company’s advanced technologies. With regard to the state enterprise Antonov, the foundation has been laid today for the start of cooperation between the strategically important state-owned enterprise and GE. The memorandum enables the supplies of engines, aircraft systems and services for certain Antonov-produced aircraft,” Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan wrote on Facebook, UNIAN reports.
Omelyan also said Ukrzaliznytsia is in talks with Kryukov Railway Car Building Works and other potential producers in Ukraine. “We want to see free competition in the market, low prices and high-quality products for Ukrzaliznytsia’s customers,” the minister added.
It should be recalled that Ukrzaliznytsia signed a Memorandum of Intention with Canadian firm Bombardier. The companies plan to set up a joint venture in Ukraine to build locomotives and other equipment.
