Ukrainian singer Jamala won the Eurostory Award 2016 for the line “You think you are gods, but everyone dies” in her song ‘1944.’ A new Eurovision-related site www.eurostory.nl, online magazine about the Eurovision song contest, awarded Jamala with Eurostory Award – a new prize that wants to point out the best metaphor, the strongest written line or the most poetic image.
“It’s a big honour for me. I think it’s the most meaningful line in my song. There is an important message in my song. Thank you very much for noticing that,” Jamala said.
The second place was given to San Marino’s line: “I didn’t know that you wished for the moon to provide me the light.”
And the 3rd was the line from Hungary’s song:
“You feel mistreated in a world where the poems sound fake.”
It should be recalled that Jamala became one of the finalists of the Eurovision 2016 after the 2nd semi-final in Stockholm.
