More than 25,000 Facebook users have sent a class action lawsuit against the administration of the site for illegal use of their personal data to the court of Vienna, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the German site ARD.

Offended people headed by the leader Max Schrems accuse Facebook of violating privacy, wrongful collection and transmission of personal data, as well as of the surveillance of users by means of “likes” and applications.

“The problem is not that Facebook stores it (personal data), and that it can not be removed,” Schrems explains.

The plaintiffs say that all personal data of the European users find themselves in possession of the U.S. intelligence services. Thus, PRISM, the U.S National Security Agency program, has an access to this information.

If the court supports the users, Facebook will have to pay 500 euro compensation to each of the 25,000 applicants. In general, this amount will reach 12.5 million euros.
