Lady Gaga previewed her Super Bowl Halftime Show performance at a press conference on Thursday in Houston. The singer, who sang the national anthem at last year’s Super Bowl, stated that the halftime show will be “tremendously athletic” and will celebrate inclusion for all, Joinfo.com reports with reference to Rolling Stone magazine.
“I believe in a passion for inclusion, I believe in the spirit of equality, and the spirit of this country is one of love and compassion and kindness so my performance will uphold those philosophies,” Gaga said. While the singer wanted to keep much of the show a surprise, she revealed that it took months of preparation.
While squashing rumors of a potential halftime collaboration, Gaga added that she is taking inspiration from Beyoncé’s Super Bowl triumph last year. Addressing the crowded conference room: “You know, Beyoncé – I was actually with her the last halftime show that she did. And she always is very inspiring and gives great advice.” The singer went on to thank the supportive, “wonderful women in this business.”
Gaga’s performance at NRG Stadium will also include an appearance by Tony Bennett. The duo previously collaborated on 2014 album Cheek to Cheek, which won a Grammy.
Lady Gaga also posted on Instagram a sneak peak for her fans of what’s to come Sunday.
She also became the first artist to Periscope live in 360 video, showing her Super Bowl green room, backstage set up, and a taste of her piano skills. The video hit one million viewers within an hour of her going live.
The singer is expected to announce a tour in support of her fifth studio album, Joanne, after the Super Bowl on February 5th. The acclaimed LP topped the charts upon its release in October, marking her fourth consecutive Number One album.
