Selena Gomez’s Friends Fear New Boyfriend The Weeknd Is a “Bad Influence”

Selena Gomez's Friends Fear New Boyfriend The Weeknd Is a "Bad Influence"
Selena Gomez's friends and family are concerned that her relationship with The Weeknd is not the right decision.

Just weeks after the 24-year-old was caught kissing the “Starboy” singer, sources are revealing exclusively to Life & Style that her closest friends and family think her new boyfriend is a bad influence.

“A lot of Selena’s friends and family fear that she’ll go down the wrong path again,” the source says. “They feel she needs to be surrounded by healthy people.”

The former Disney Channel star spent 90 days in rehab last fall for what she claimed were lupus-related panic attacks and anxiety.

However, it was her relationship with ex Justin Bieber that really prompted her rehab stay.

“While Selena does suffer from lupus and other health issues, that’s not the reason she went to rehab,” an insider shared. “Her biggest addiction is Justin. She became a different person around him.”

The source continued, “She was extremely jealous and possessive and felt like she had to keep up with him to keep him. So she would drink and smoke, and then she got into weed and partying.”

This could explain why her mom, Mandy, is also against her getting serious with the 27-year-old (whose real name is Abel Tesfaye).

“Mandy has heard the dirty and drug-related lyrics to Abel’s songs and she doesn’t approve of Selena hanging out and partying with him,” says the source, before adding that Mandy is pressuring her daughter to dump the singer.
