In the heart of London, British artist Alex Chinneck has set a building that looks like it is suspended in the air. While looking at it people become speechless. The market at Covent Garden hovering above the ground is an example of one of the most prominent optical illusions of modernity.
The installation "Take my Lightning but Don"t steal my Thunder" is an example of excellent optical illusion. The building hovering in the air is an exact replica of the old entrance to the market, built 184 years ago. Broken stone columns and broken walls allow to believe that the building itself freed from the boring basement.
Alex Chinneck is the latest artist who was commissioned to create an installation at the Covent Garden square. Earlier this honor were awarded to Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst and Paul Cocksedge. The artist spent 3 months on the installation creation and another 500 hours to paint facade and create artificial aging.
