Austria: skiing in Salzburg

The suburbs of Salzburg are so amazing that one is tempted to stand for a moment in the parking lot and enjoy the beauty of it. It is difficult to decide where the mountains begin. White peaks are intersected by blue and red tracks, interspersed with occasional black ones. Black ones can be found in Bad Gastein, which is connected in Bad Hofgastein (about 10 km). This whole area is crazy. I definitely prefer to ride red (128 km) and blue tracks (59 km). What a joy when the skis are sliding themselves, and you can look around and enjoy the view.

The panorama here is amazing, although it is not the only attraction of this place. When I was standing at the top, the most interesting thing was a slight breeze. I would like to go back there every day, but in Salzburg there a lot of ski resorts. Sportgastein is a small station, but it is located in such a beautiful place. The view from the highest peak in Kreuzkogel, which is on 2686 m height, is truly unforgettable. Especially when you have to climb on a glassed platform where there is a special table where you can sit and, for example, have lunch. Sitting and enjoying the Alps is a true delight.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm Resort with 200 km of tracks is so attractive that it will be difficult to decide where to go skiing. By the way, in this region, there is the 3203 m Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, it allows you skiing even in early July. Snowboarders will find here 138 km of tracks, including 47 km of blue, 59 km of red and 32 km of black ones.

Salzburg is famous for its unique cuisine. You can try it already on the slope, where there are plenty of shelters and huts serving regional cuisine. When it is frosting, warm soup is the best solution for you. I especially liked the delicate beef broth, pasta with lentils, soup with sour cream, venison stew. I recommend to try beef steak. It is served on a wooden plate.

Hungry skiers will also like tafelspitz or succulent beefsteaks with vegetables, served with a sauce, horseradish and applesauce, tartar, tomatoes and grated potatoes. All this fantastically fit with Austrian wines. Another argument, which you can use to convince your family to go to Salzburg, is spa tubs, which are the best remedy for tired legs.

Tauern SPA Kaprun is the place from must list, where there are indoor and outdoor pools for adults and children. After such busy winter holidays, there is nothing more pleasant for human happiness than this.
