Migrants fear to return to Russia

Migrants fear to return to Russia
Asylum seekers at the Finnmark Arrival Center in Norway refuse to return to Russia. Many people announced a hunger strike in protest

During the weekend, around 70 people were transported from various facilities in North Norway to Finnmark Arrival Center in Sor-Varanger for transporting back to Russia, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to nrk.no.

Migrants said that they were woken up early in the morning with instructions to pack their things and prepare for transportation back to the Russian Federation.

Rami Haddad from Jordan explains that many now are afraid of what will happen to them in Russia. “Many people here have lost their homes and have no money. They have nothing to do in Russia, they have just got a visa to come to Europe. Now they will drop us across the border, where we know that no one will help us. We’re going to be left out in the cold, without food and water, and with no roof over our heads,” – said Haddad.

Many people announced a hunger strike in protest. Now they say they will refuse to board the buses for deportation from Norway to Russia.
