“Commenting on the situation with cold water tariffs, they are expected to grow. We plan that the average growth [of tariffs] will be 15%,” Deputy Director of the water supplies department at the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) Dmytro Solomka said, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to UNIAN.
He also stressed that the main causes behind the increase in cold water tariffs were higher tariffs for electricity, as well as declining consumption.
According to Solomka, the tariff rates are approved by the NEURC taking into account proposals received from regional utility companies.
“The revision of tariffs is a systematic thing. We are carefully analyzing the structure of tariffs provided by regional utility companies. We do not allow any extra charges,” Solomka added.
It should be recalled that Ukrainian households will start getting higher hot water bills from July 1, 2016. The cost of the hot water will increase due to higher gas price, which is UAH 6,879 ($273) per 1,000 cubic meters.
