Baby giraffe makes first public appearance in Amsterdam zoo – video

The calf was born less than a week ago in Amsterdam Artis Zoo, and has already made his first steps outside in the so-called savanna area on Monday.

The caretakers were surprised by his birth on Thursday. His mother is experienced: she has delivered five calfs previously. With the newborn, the herd consists of ten giraffes now.

Unfortunately, another newborn calf did not survive in Artis early November. It was the first pregnancy for his mother. The delivery went smoothly, but the calf did not drink mlk.
