Russia to impose tax on Google

As Joinfo.ua reports, this initiative was made by Dmitry Biryukov, the chairman of the Civic Chamber Commission on development of information society, media and mass communications.

He proposes to oblige search engines to deduct payment to those media whose news these systems publish.

"Spain, for example, passed a bill making Google donate 7% of its income in the country to the Spanish media," said Biryukov at the expanded session of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.

Earlier, it was reported that the Russian government may impose a tax on internet use. Thus, each user will have to pay money for the right to take advantage of the global network every month.
