Facebook has already tested the advertising in Messenger in Thailand and Australia. Every month, over 1.2 billion people are chatting via the application, and the company is just looking forward to it.
“This means businesses of every size get a new tool for creating meaningful connections with customers and prospects,” Facebook announced in a statement.
The chat application will show advertisements that are relevant to user’s interests. As you noticed, on Facebook and Instagram, the advertising is usually perfectly tuned to the feed. Social media look at the search history of each user and show the relevant advertisings. Messenger will probably use ads in such manner too.
Facebook at first will roll ads slowly, showing it to a small number of Messenger users around the world. So, it is still unclear when we will see advertisements in the application.
