"The President congratulated the Prime Minister Abad and other Iraqi leaders on the formation of a new government and stressed on the need for continued cooperation between the United States and Iraq with the international community to counter the threat posed by the "Islamic state", says the White House statement.
Iraq"s Parliament approved a new government led by the current Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi. During the session on September 8, Iraq"s parliamentarians agreed on the candidates of the former Iraqi Premiers Nouri al-Maliki and Ayad Allawi and the former Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujeifi as Vice-Presidents.
