U.S. President Barack Obama said the killing of Boris Nemtsov was a continuation of Russian aggression against Ukraine. American leader called for a full investigation, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to Reuters.
President Obama said that the murder of Boris Nemtsov evidenced worsening political situation in Russia, where in recent years civil rights have been increasingly oppressed and freedom of the press is subject to restriction.
"This is an indication of a climate at least inside of Russia, in which civil society, independent journalists, people trying to communicate on the Internet have felt increasingly threatened, constrained. And increasingly, the only information the Russian public is able to get is through state control media. That is a problem," Obama said.
According to him, the murder of the opposition leader is "part of what has allowed, I think, Russia to engage in a sort of aggression against Ukraine."
It should be recalled that the Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on Friday at 11:15 p m in the Moscow downtown.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov called the murder of Boris Nemtsov a probable provocation.
The murder of Boris Nemtsov, according to investigators, was a well-planned, because the killers knew his route of movement opposition and were tracking him.
