Trump Bans Transgender People From Serving in US Army
US President Donald Trump has reversed a decision of his predecessor Barack Obama.

“The United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military,” he announced today in three tweets, Joinfo.com reports with reference to News Monkey.

Of course, the decision is getting a lot of criticism.

“After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail,” President Trump wrote in his tweets, concluding the statement with a dry “Thank you”.

Donald Trump’s decision does not come as a surprise, as James Mattis, his former minister of defense, had previously postponed the transgenders permission in the US Army for six months. Normally, transgenders who have been “stable in their gender for a year and a half” should be admitted to the US Army this year. The decision was approved last year by the Obama government, but is now being abolished. It’s not the first time Trump shows little understanding for transgenders.

By the end of February, he had already agreed on a measure that weakened the protection of transgenders in public schools.

In July last year, he had written on Twitter that he was the best presidential candidate for the LGBT community, unlike Hillary Clinton.
