Greek Government rejects international economic assistance program

The Greek Government rejects the program of international financial assistance. It became known from the speech of the Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras delivered in the Parliament, Joinfo.ua reports.

"We need an honest negotiation with our partners that does not condemn the Greek economy and society to unending recession," he said.

According to Tsipras, he intends to negotiate with creditors to obtain short-term loan until June 2015. These funds are expected to be spent on measures to resolve the country's crisis. Tsipras announced a major social reform without raising the retirement age and with preservation of pensions. Under the plan of the new government the minimum wage should rise from 550 euros to 750 euros at the beginning of 2016.

In addition, the Greek authorities intend to resume tax revenues and ban privatization of infrastructure.

Experts point out that these measures are contrary to the economic program approved by the creditors of the Greek government.

It should be noted that recent parliamentary elections in Greece were won by pro-Russian forces. In fact, right after that it was reported that the Russian government intends to provide Greece with financial assistance.

Later it became known that the new Greek government led by Alexis Tsipras did not support the statements of some leaders of the European Union who intended to discuss and adopt new economic sanctions against the Russian Federation.
