The oldest inhabitant of the Earth Misao Okawa died in Japan at the age of 117, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Kyodo news agency.

She passed away on Wednesday, April 1, in a nursing home in Osaka, where she had lived the last few years.

In March this year Okawa celebrated her birthday on the day before – the celebrations were held on March 4 in a nursing home. The staff told that the long-liver started having significant hearing problems and moving a little slower.

Misao Okawa was born on March 5, 1898 in Osaka. In 1919 she got married, she had three children. In 1931, Okawa lost her husband. She was a mother of two daughters and a son, grandmother of four, and great-grandmother of six. In 2013 she entered the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest person on Earth.
