Russian occupation of Ukraine may be perpetuated by the Bank of Russia by issuing 100-ruble banknotes in commemoration of annexation of Crimea, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Russian media.
"It will be issued this year," said Georgy Luntovsky, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Russia.
The new banknote will be put into cash turnover.
"Anyway I hope for it. Unless it is used as a souvenir, a memory of this event. In addition, it will be beautiful," announced the representative of the Bank of Russia.
He noted that the circulation of the new banknote was not approved yet – the decision should be made by the Board of Directors of the Central Bank.
In 2014, the Central Bank of Russia issued two 10-ruble coins after the occupation of Crimea.
