The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland ratified the Association Agreement with the European Union and Ukraine. It was announced by Oleksiy Kurka, a spokesman for the British Embassy in Ukraine, Tyzhden.ua reports.
The spokesman stressed that after undergoing the technical procedures in the British Parliament, the statement about Britain having ratified the Association Agreement was conveyed to the European Commission.
According to the website of the European Commission, the statement about ratification by Britain was received on April 8.
"The decision was prepared, the technical procedures were underwent, and finally, they sent the statement to the Commission … April 8 is indicated as the date, when the official confirmation of ratification was received," said Kurka.
According to him, in the British parliament, ratification of the Association followed the hearing in the relevant European Committee on Foreign Affairs, the meeting of which was held January 29.
As it is known, the lower house of the Dutch parliament has already ratified the EU-Ukraine Association.
Currently, the ratification procedure of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union is fully completed by 28 EU Member States: Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Estonia, Sweden, Bulgaria, Poland, Croatia, Germany, Denmark, Ireland and Ukraine itself.
Furthermore, the ratification of the agreement was supported by the European Parliament.
