Germany ratifies Association Agreement between Ukraine and EU

Germany has ratified the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. It was announced by Andrij Melnyk, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany, on his Twitter page.

The Ambassador Melnyk reported that Germany had completed the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, Joinfo.ua reports.

"Great news: Germany completed the procedure of ratification of the Association Agreement and passes the relevant documents to Brussels," Melnyk wrote.

It should be recalled that on March 26, the German Bundestag ratified the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. On May 8, the German Bundesrat (upper house of the parliament) also ratified the Agreement.

The political part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU was signed in March 2014, the economic part will come into effect in 2016. To the Association Agreement become effective, it must be ratified by all signatories – Ukraine and 28 EU member states. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the agreement on September 26, 2014. So far, the procedure of ratification of the agreement is already completed by 19 states.

Thus, on May 7, the Senate of France ratified the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
