The Hungarian Parliament passed a bill on the construction of a wall on the border with Serbia. It is reported by Joinfo.ua with reference to the foreign press.
151 MPs supported the bill, 41 MPs voted negatively.
In Hungary, it is planned to build a 4 meter high wall with the length of 175 kilometers. The project is aimed at protecting from illegal migrants from Africa and the Middle East.
In addition, the bill provides for the tightening of the rules of the asylum application, which will allow the authorities to keep migrants in makeshift camps, reduce the time for consideration of applications for asylum, and limit the opportunities for appeals.
“Hungary has faced the greatest wave of migration in its history, its capacity is overloaded by 130%,” Prime Minister Viktor Orban explained the need for such measures.
The Hungarian Government reports that according to various estimates, this year, the country has been entered by about 60-70 thousand people, which is two times more than previous year. Most of the illegal immigrants come from Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and Kosovo. After Hungary, many head to Germany and Austria.
