According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the population of Ukraine had decreased by 17.2 thousand people during May this year, and as of June 1 it amounted to 42,836,922 people, Joinfo.ua reports.
As of June 1, the number of people, who permanently reside in Ukraine, amounted to 42,667,285 people.
Since the beginning of the year, the population has decreased by 92 thousand people, as compared to June 1, 2014 – to 158.6 thousand people. The number of newborns in Ukraine on June 1 totaled 166 thousand, which is 26 thousand less compared to1 June last year.
The State Statistics Committee notes that the data are presented without regard to the territory of annexed Crimea and Sevastopol.
It should be recalled that according to the UN estimates, if the dynamics of reduction is maintained, by 2030 the population of Ukraine may reduce to 39 million people.
