Belarus will denominate the national currency

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree on the denomination of the national currency. New Belarusian ruble will be equal to the previous 10,000 rubles. This is stated in the press service of the Belarusian President, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to Belnovosti.

“The decree assigned to denominate the official monetary unit of the Republic of Belarus on July 1, 2016 and to substitute the banknotes of the sample of 2000 year with banknotes of the sample of 2009 with the ratio of 1:10,000 till 31 December 2016.

The National bank of the Republic of Belarus will issue seven new banknotes: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 rubles, and eight coins: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 kopek, and also 1 and 2 rubles.

Each banknote is devoted to one of the regions of Belarus and Minsk. The old banknotes should be exchange by December 31, 2021. From January 1, 2022 the old banknotes will be declared invalid.

The National bank of the Republic of Belarus released the photographs of the new banknotes.
