According to the bill 4645, a citizen of Ukraine with higher education, but not specifically in the field of jurisprudence, and having at least 5 years of experience in the field of law or law enforcements may fill the position of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Joinfo.ua reports.
The controversial amendment enables Yuriy Lutsenko, head of the Parliament’s faction of Petro Poroshenko Bloc, to become the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
The bill also amended other PGO regulations.
The amendments come into force on the publishing day.
It should be recalled that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko postponed his working visit to the UK, because of the situation over the election of the new Prosecutor General.
