Ukrainian swimmer Andrey Govorov won the semifinals in the 50-meter butterfly in the European Championships in London, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Swimming World Magazine.

Also, his time 22.73 seconds was a new record, which lowered his own meet record of 22.87 set at the 2014 Berlin event.

The result also moved him to the 4th place among the best swimmers of all time in the event’s history.  Rafael Munoz (22.43), Roland Schoeman(22.57), Milorad Cavic (22.67) and Matt Targett (22.73) are the other members of the top five.

Notably, Govorov’s time also lowered the textile best of 22.76 set by Cesar Cielo in 2012.

It should be recalled that on the weekend, Ukrainian Olympians Igor Radivilov and Oleg Vernyayev won five gold medals at the Varna World Challenge Cup in Bulgaria, combining five of the six titles.
