Internally displaced children from eastern Ukraine to participate in Eurochild Conference 2016 in Brussels
On 5-7 July 2016, Brussels will host the Eurochild Conference 2016. The conference aims to promote the understanding of children’s rights as a cornerstone to the development of equitable, healthy and prosperous societies.

The main topic of the Eurochild Conference 2016, which will take place in Brussels, Belgium on 5-7 July 2016 is – ‘Children’s Rights Matter: Why Europe needs to invest in children’, Joinfo.ua reports.

According to the organizers, “the conference aims to promote the understanding of children’s rights as a cornerstone to the development of equitable, healthy and prosperous societies”.

It will bring together practitioners, researchers, civil society actors, policy and decision makers along with children and young people themselves to contribute to the realization of children’s rights in Europe.

Ukrainian children will participate in the conference for the first time. Ukraine’s delegates – Yevhen Suhlobov, 17 from Luhansk and Anhelina Kas’yanova, 13 from Donetsk – are the internally displaced children from the occupied cities of eastern Ukraine.

One of the main topics of discussion at the conference will be the protection of children in the territories affected by armed conflicts. Ukrainian delegates will have much to share on this issue: Yevhen and Anhelina are both participating in the volunteer projects, helping the IDPs .

Yevhen, following his mother’s experience, has organized a youth volunteer project in Kyiv, helping other internally displaced teenagers to overcome communication barriers, make new friends and spend a good time.
