Rio 2016: Canoeist Cheban bags second gold for Ukraine
The Ukrainian canoeist Iurii Cheban has won the gold medal in single event at the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro

Ukraine’s Iurii Cheban has won gold with 39.279 points in the final round of the single canoeing event.

Valentin Demyanenko from Azerbaijan claimed the silver medal with 39.493 points, bronze went to the Barazilian Isaquias Queiroz Dos Santos (39.628 points).

Iurii Cheban brought the second gold for Ukraine after gymnast Oleh Verniaiev, who won the gold medal in the men’s parallel bars competition on August 16.

Earlier today, athlete Bohdan Bondarenko has won the bronze medal in high jump.

Ukraine now holds the 19th position with 8 medals in total (2 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze).

Earlier, Serhiy Kulish won the silver medal in the 10m Air Rifle Men’s Finals, Olga Kharlan won bronze in fencing; the women’s sabre team of Olga Kharlan, Alina Komashchuk and Olena Kravatska won siver medal on Sunday.  Zhan Beleniuk won the silver medal in a Wrestling Men’s Greco-Roman 85 kg competition.
