International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival has been annually held in Harbin, China since 1999. It is the biggest event of this kind in the world.
First, ice blocks are carved from the frozen surface of the Songhua River. Then ice sculptors gradually create ice buildings and sculptures of a magical ice kingdom, Joinfo.com reports.
The construction of such an impressive ice infrastructure takes about 10,000 workers and two weeks. As a result, the visitors are welcome to the city of ice, with mazes, towers, churches and pagodas sparkling in a beautiful lighting.
Some attractions are already open to visitors, but the official opening will take place on January 5, 2017.
