Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service is looking for Maatsuyker Island caretakers. The 186 hectares island is located in the Southern Ocean about ten kilometers from Tasmania and is only accessible by helicopter.
Wifi and TV are not present, but who needs that when you can enjoy nature, the environment and a house with four bedrooms and a kitchen garden. You can also fool around with a few penguins and seals that occasionally come by.
Who may apply? The job offer says: “We are looking for self-sufficient people that are healthy, have a proven ability to live and work in remote locations, and are able to carry out caretaking services including maintenance of grounds, buildings and plants, and equipment. Additionally, they are required to carry out daily weather observations for the Bureau of Meteorology, for which they receive training and payment.”
The caretakers will stay there up to six months until a new volunteers come. The applications close on January 30th. Hurry up!
