Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina advances to Taiwan semifinals
Top seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine advanced to the semifinals at the Taiwan Open with a hard-earned win over Ons Jabeur on Friday.

Svitolina needed almost two hours and saved four match points to win 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (4) in her quarterfinal match against the Tunisian qualifier, Joinfo.com reports with reference to UPI.

“She was playing really aggressive today and most things were working for her today,” Svitolina said in her post-match press conference. “It was very tough, because I wasn’t feeling well this morning because I’ve had the flu.

“I decided to go on court and try to give my best, and it happened in the first set. But then she played really good

Up next for Svitolina is Luxembourg’s Mandy Minella, who came back from a set down to beat Zhu Lin of China 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.

It should be recalled that Elina Svitolina made her way to the semifinals at Australian Open winning a final set against German Angelique Kerber in Brisbane, Australia
